Estee Lauder Uninhibited Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange-red with warm undertones and a soft sheen. It was richly pigmented with a creamy, hydrating consistency that applied evenly across the lips. The texture was lightweight, comfortable to wear, and made my lips appear smoother. This shade wore well for seven hours on me.

The Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick formula is supposed to have “high-intensity color” that hydrate lips with six-hour wear. It’s one of my favorite formulas, as the majority of the shades are creamy, smooth, pigmented, hydrating, and long-wearing (four to seven hours). They are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly across the lips without tugging on them. It had a lightweight, thinner consistency that was comfortable to wear and didn’t feel clingy. Estee Lauder Heat Wave Illuminating Powder Gelee ($45.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a bright, medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a metallic sheen. It appeared more metallic when I swatched it than when I applied to my cheek bones, though when I applied it more heavily or with a damp brush, it started to take on a more noticeable sheen. I did not feel like it emphasized my skin’s natural texture, though, even when applied heavily.

The formula is described as a “super-luxurious bronzer” with a buildable finish “to a luminous pearl highlight.” It’s more like a gold-hued highlighter than your typical bronzer. The consistency was soft, smooth, and dense without being stiff or difficult to blend out. It was easy to apply and diffuse along the edges, and it layered well with blushes or could be worn on its own, if desired. This shade lasted well for eight hours on me before fading. While this may have been more innovative when it originally launched years ago, the reality is that this type of gold highlighter is rather common these days, so there are a lot more dupes for those who aren’t interested in tracking this product down.

It takes the Pure Color Envy formula and adds shimmer to it with the end result varying from lightly pearlized to more frosted and near-metallic. The shimmer was finer in size, so the lipsticks did not feel gritty on the lips, and the particles didn’t migrate as the lipstick wears down. The coverage was more semi-opaque to opaque, though a lighter hand could achieve medium coverage. It was one of the less shimmery shades I’ve encountered within the Hi-Lustre range. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly, though there was a bit of color that gathered in some of my deeper lip lines, which wasn’t too noticeable except in a magnifying mirror. The texture was lightweight, emollient enough that it glided on without tugging, and was comfortable to wear. It lasted well for four hours and was lightly hydrating.

Estee Lauder Intense Emotion Hi-Lustre Light Sculpting Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep, pinky red with cool, blue undertones and a barely-there ruby red pearl. It had nearly opaque coverage–definitely greater than medium coverage–in a single layer, so for sheerer coverage, I’d recommend applying to the bottom lip and then pressing to blend the color onto the top lip. The consistency was smooth, creamy with just enough slip to be comfortable to apply and to wear. This shade lasted for over six hours on me, left a stain behind, and was hydrating.

The formula is supposed to have medium coverage with a lustrous finish. It takes the Pure Color Envy formula and adds shimmer to it with the end result varying from lightly pearlized to more frosted and near-metallic. The shimmer was finer in size, so the lipsticks did not feel gritty on the lips, and the particles didn’t migrate as the lipstick wears down. The coverage was more semi-opaque to opaque, though a lighter hand could achieve medium coverage. . It was lightly creamy with some slip that became more noticeable as the formula warmed up against the lips. The wear ranged from four to six hours and was typically hydrating. The formula featured a vanilla scent but had no discernible taste.

It almost looked like a “warm” fuchsia as it had so much red in it. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, creamy but not slippery, and comfortable to wear. It had nearly opaque pigmentation, though, which was a lot more than described, but some might prefer it that way. There was a bit of color that pulled into my lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. This shade wore nicely for six hours, left a stain behind, and was moisturizing.

Estee Lauder Hi-Lustre Pure Color Envy Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.10 oz.) recently extended their range with many new shades, and here’s a look at how well they did… I think this formula is best for someone who likes medium to semi-opaque coverage lip color with moderate shine and some pearl. I’m a fan of it myself, as they’re easy to wear on their own and are very comfortable/hydrating. They are slightly more coverage than described, which is why the ratings can be a little lower than you might expect!

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Saffron Sun Bronzer ($65.00 for 0.42 oz.) is light-medium, golden brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that was easy to work with.

It’s a new shade in the Victoria Beckham collaboration (which was partially brought back recently). It’s lighter and more golden-toned compared to Java Sun from the initial release, but it performed similarly. The consistency was smooth, finely-milled, and silky without being so soft that it turned dusty or powdery in the pan. The powder applied evenly to bare skin, blended out easily, and was soft enough that it could be used with a lighter hand for sheerer coverage as well. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading.

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham for Fall 2017

Estee Lauder London Victoria Beckham Eye Palette ($75.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a deflating release from a collaboration that was known for its higher quality–that while incredibly expensive, the majority of products delivered on their promises, but this was a total and utter disappointment.

The eyeshadows did not apply well, nor did they stay on for longer than three hours, without primer. I had to use primer just to get enough product to show up visibly on the lid to give you an idea of the “look” one could create from the palette, and even then, it still turned out poorly with unevenness, patchiness, fading within mere minutes. The “look” above is using as much as eight layers of product, packed on, and pressed on with fingertips or with the product used damp over primer (Smashbox 24HR). I have dents in my pans from jabbing and scraping at the surfaces in an attempt to get something usable out of it.

Now, one thing to keep in mind is that Blanc was supposed to be “sheer” and Gris was described as “translucent” so the lack of coverage not entirely unexpected, but the formula itself was also described as “buildable” and “blends easily” and “smooths on evenly.” Unfortunately, regardless of whether one prefers sheer or more pigmented eyeshadow, the quality of the application, blendability, texture, and wear of all four shades was dismal. None of them were worth the money, and none of them were even worth the words I’m wasting my time writing here.

Blanc is a bright white with a sparkling, metallic finish. The consistency was dry and flaking with chunks of eyeshadow coming away from the surface, creating a mess in the pan, and was incredibly difficult to use on the lid dry with a brush as the eyeshadow clumped and dropped underneath my eye with sheer coverage (as marketed) that was not buildable at all (which it was marketed as) and always looked uneven and emphasized the texture of my lid. I could only get a fraction of color to adhere when I jammed my finger into the pan and pressed against my lid, and then it lasted for a good two hours before creasing and almost disappearing entirely. When I tried it with a dampened brush, it applied with semi-sheer coverage that lasted for an hour (creased horrendously).

Gris is a light-medium gray with neutral-to-cool undertones and a satin finish. It was supposed to have translucent coverage (though the formula was also described as buildable), and translucent coverage was only achieved by digging and scraping off powder from the pan as the texture was dry, sandpapery, and incredibly stiff. This did not blend out evenly at all; it darkened in places and dusted away in others. It faded within an hour of wear on bare skin and within three hours over primer.

Noir (London) is a medium-dark black with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had good pigmentation, but it was a real challenge to blend out the product–it did not want to diffuse at all to create any semblance of a gradient or softened edge. It was patchy and balled up in places, which resulted in chunky fallout during application despite the eyeshadow having a much denser consistency and no powderiness or kickup in the pan. It started to crease within an hour and a half of wear.

Bordeaux is a medium-dark plum with warm, copper undertones and a pearly sheen. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a soft, smooth texture in the pan, but it faded within five minutes of application. It could not retain any of its intensity and started to darken unevenly as it sat on the lid. It did this over primer, not just over bare lids (and my lids are normal-to-dry, not oily). It did not blend out that evenly, though it performed better than the other three shades in the palette. It had almost disappeared within two hours of wear on bare skin and made it a whopping four hours over primer.

Estee Lauder Desert Heat Victoria Beckham Lip Gloss ($36.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a muted, medium brown with warm, yellow undertones and cream finish. The color applied somewhat unevenly on the lips, though it did not sink too badly into lip lines.

The formula can be “worn alone or over” a lip pencil or lipstick and has a “hydrating feel” but is “non-drying.” It had medium coverage with a smooth, lightweight texture that was slightly tacky but comfortable to wear. It lasted for two and a half hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating on me. The formula had a sweet fig scent to me and had a faint soapy taste at times.

Estee Lauder Saphir Orange Vif Victoria Beckham Eye Duo ($60.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a bold duo featuring a deep navy blue and a brighter, medium orange both with more matte finish. They appeared quite matte in the pan and swatched, but there were very, very fine micro-sparkles in Saphir and quite possibly Orange Vif but was so hard to detect by eye–I only saw the flecks really come through in the look I did. For the price point, they aren’t high enough quality; they are trickier to use, and the two together do not blend together particularly well as Saphir gets patchy as it layers over Orange Vif. There are only two shades, so shouldn’t the two blend nicely together?

The duo contains a bit less than the average full-sized eyeshadow (0.05 oz. and these are 0.03 oz. each), despite the compact being more substantial in size. I also had to be careful as the mirror was so heavy that the palette would not stay flat on the table unless I had the mirror angled slightly over the eyeshadow pans to keep it from tipping.

Saphir is a muted, deep navy blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. There were very faint, micro-sparkles in the powder that were visible in a macro photograph but less so in person, though it did not look truly matte either–almost semi-matte to satin. The consistency was rather stiff, which made it more difficult to pick up with a brush, blend out, and apply–it was best applied patted and packed on and then using a clean, separate brush to blend out the edges. The edges of this shade turned darker and appeared patchy as I tried to blend it with other shades.

Orange Vif is a rich, medium-dark orange with a matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation, though the texture was on the powdery side so there was powder that kicked up in the pan and some fallout during application if I wasn’t careful. The color darkened slightly over time, but it wasn’t overly noticeable–more that it wasn’t as vibrant on as it appeared in the pan. It wore well for seven hours before turning patchy.
